We have an in-platform photo booth option that can be adjusted for photos or videos. Below are some frequently asked questions.

How do I turn on the feature?

Settings > Admin Panel > Rooms > Select which room you’d like to have the photo booth enabled.

Go to Room Setting and scroll down to the Photo Booth Mode Section to choose from the following options:

  1. Full Video Mode - captures the entire screen including everyone’s audio, iframes and clickables, but requires you to select the tab you wish to record (similar to screen sharing)

  2. Quick Video Mode - captures the entire screen without the UI present, however you will only hear the recorder’s audio, regardless if you’re muted

  3. Photo Mode - captures a still shot of the screen without the UI present

  4. Disabled - turned off and removed from the action bar

If choosing a video mode, identify the total number of seconds you’d like users to have. We recommend 15 seconds or less.

Lastly, choose which social media sharing platforms you’d like your guests to be able to directly share to, including direct download.

Hit “Save” then exit the admin panel to begin using the photo booth.

Is it on in every room?

No - it must be enabled on a room by room basis. The goal is to have a room that has a creative background or moment to capture and share out.

How will I know it’s available or turned on in a room?

Once enabled via the Admin Panel, a camera icon will appear on the end of your action bar for all users.

Note: this feature is currently for all user roles.

How will I know if it’s taking a photo or capturing the recording?

When in capture mode, the circle on the camera icon will appear red.

In video modes, you will also see a countdown timer showing how many seconds you have left to complete your video.

In what formats will the captured content save?

Photos will be saved as .jpg format.

Videos will be saved as .webm format. This can be opened by dragging it into your browser to play the video or opening in a media player.

Note: we are actively working on making this a mp4 output instead.

What are my sharing options for social media and how does it work?

Facebook

Photo - this will pre-populate a post with your image to then add content and share on your Feed or in Your Story:

Video - this will show a downloaded file in the top right corner of the pop-up box. You will need to drag it into the “What’s on your mind?” section to begin a post.

Instagram

Photo and Video - Start a new post then drag your saved image/video from the download icon in the top right corner into the “create new post” dialogue box.

Twitter / X

Photo and Video - a post will pre-populate with the URL to your photo or video. You can add additional content to your post before clicking “Post.”

YouTube

Photo - YouTube does not allow static photos to be uploaded and therefore the option will not be available.

Video - The video upload dialogue box will appear. Drag your video from the download icon in the top right corner into the Video Upload area and follow the remaining instructions to upload to your channel.

LinkedIn

Photo - this will show the photo and ask if you’d like to Share in a post or Send as a private message. Once you select your option you can add additional content and share.

Video - Linked-in does not support video sharing.

Pinterest

Photo and Video - drag your photo or video from the download icon in the top right corner to upload it to your page and begin filling out the descriptions.

Download

Photo and Video - a dialogue box will appear asking where you’d like to save the file to and/or rename.

How do you recommend using the photo booth feature?

We recommend having (1) room or area of a room that is dedicated to your photo booth experience. This should have a fun moment that people would want to share. It can be a group moment or singular experience.

Consider having places where guests can put their circle to become part of a scene.

Example: Each guest becomes part of spelling out a word or a gumball in a machine.

Can I use the photo booth feature in spectator mode?

Yes, you technically can, however you will only capture those that are avatars in the room. We recommend having users go to a different room so their avatars can be present.

In Full Video Mode, should I select a Tab, Window, or Entire Screen?

When using Full Video Mode, make sure to select the Chrome Tab instead of the window or entire screen and allow the “Also share tab audio.”

Is there a way to display the photos taken from my room in the world to see other user’s pictures?

Not at this time, however, this is an upcoming feature.

Can I add stickers or a frame to the photos before they’re shared?

Any frame or sticker that you’d like to be in the photo should be added to the background prior to the photo or video being taken. If you would like to add in post, this will either have to be done through the chosen app to share it in (FB, IG, etc.) or via downloading the image/video.
