Your audio is an important part of your experience in the World. Here’s how to access, change, and check your settings for optimal performance. Review the steps below or click on a step for more information.
Check the microphone or headphones are charged and working correctly.

When entering a World for the first time, your browser will request access to your camera and microphone–typically through a pop-up notification.
Click “Allow” to access these devices in your World.
If you didn't catch the pop up message, you can check your permissions by selecting the lock icon in the URL of your browser.
When prompted, select your camera, microphone, and audio output from the Audio/Video menu.
If you did not allow permission to your camera or microphone, the drop down menu will be empty.
You can change or check your camera and microphone device settings at any time.
Select the gear icon at the top right corner of your screen and click “Audio/Video” for a drop-down menu of available devices.
If you're using a camera or microphone that is still not appearing, check the system settings on your computer.
How to check your built in camera on a PC
Click on the Start menu and type 'Camera' in the search box
Select the Camera App and click on the Open option
When the Camera app launches, the Webcam turns on, and you should see the Camera feed.
How to check your microphone on a PC
Click on the Start menu and type 'sound' into the search box
Scroll to the Input section, and select the microphone option that you would like to use
Here you will be able to change your input volume, as well as test the microphone that you intend to use.
How to check your camera and microphone on a Mac
Check your camera
Check the camera indicator light. If it's flashing green, please contact Apple.
If your Mac is using macOS Mojave or later, choose which apps can use your built-in camera:
Try another app, like QuickTime or FaceTime, to check that the camera is working.
Make sure your software is up to date.
Check your microphone
Open up System Preferences
Select Sound
Select "Input"
Confirm the correct microphone is selected. You can also talk and see if the input level is indicating that the microphone is capturing your audio.
